Dr Emmanuel Oger is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacology. He obtained his PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health within the ESTHER group in 2002 (Paris XI University). His thesis work showed that oral estrogens induced an activated protein C resistance whereas transdermal estrogens had little impact on coagulation among postmenopausal women. His main research area first focused on the etiology of venous thromboembolism. He also played a major role in conducting the ESTHER study that showed for the first time the safety of transdermal estrogens regarding the risk of venous thromboembolism. He then turned to the pharmaco-epidemiology in the Rennes University Hospital and the University of Rennes. Emmanuel Oger coordinates the first platform dedicated to the safety of health products and funded by ANSM (Pharmaco-Epidemiology of Health Products (PEPS)).
