A collaborative study involving the Center for Research in Epidemiology and Population Health, Villejuif, Franceand Women's Health Initiative investigators, USA, confirmed that age at menopause may be related to the subsequent risk of venous thromboembolism. Based on 294 first idiopathic events, there was a U-shaped relationship between age at menopause and thrombotic risk that persisted after adjustment for potential confounders. Early and late onset of menopause might be new risk factors for venous thromboembolism. This work has been published in Menopause
