In the Three-City prospective cohort study among postmenopausal women over 65 years, polymorphisms of ESR1 and ESR2 were investigated in relation to the 7-year incidence of dementia. Overall, the risk of Alzheimer's disease increased in women with ESR1 rs2234693-CC genotype compared with those with CT/TT genotype. ESR1 rs2234693 polymorphism was a modulator of the well-known association between dementia risk and the ApoE e4 allele. This work has been published in Alzheimers Dement.
