The association of postmenopausal hormone therapy with the risk of ischemic stroke has been investigated using the French National Health Insurance database and French National hospital data. Oral but not transdermal estrogens increased the risk of stroke. Concomitant use of norpregnane derivatives might also increase stroke risk whatever the route of estrogens administration. This work has been published in Stroke.
